LAST EDITED ON Feb-24-10 AT 07:12PM (MST)[p]I am in Nebraska right now. The biggest problem is getting the farmers to let you hunt their land. That said, I have never had a farmer tell me "no" an hour outside of the city(Omaha). Almost every farmer will let you archery hunt their farm provided no one else already has dibs. If you can, I would suggest that you make trip sometime during the summer and spend a few days knocking on doors and talking to farmers. Southeast Nebraska has tons of deer and the farmers seem to view them and the turkeys more as rodents than anything else. That area is also where the new state record buck was killed this past year. The best time to archery hunt is the week before the rifle because the rut is in full swing and deer are on their feet all day. Its awesome.

I'd like to find a area in Nebraska that I could come and hunt for 2 weeks for Deer (rifle), and in the middle of the day hunt birds,(pheasants, huns, grouse, etc), Any suggestions there would be awesome.

I would suggest the same thing. The rifle hunt is only one week in Nebraska though. It usually falls right in the middle of the rut so deer are moving alot. I would also suggest that you come out here early enough or even a pre-trip to knock on some doors and gain some permission. You may have a slightly more difficult time gaining permission for the rifle hunt. That said, I had maybe two or three farmers tell me no for the rifle hunt and that was only because they had others hunting their land. I had more land to hunt than time once the hunts came. There are alot of birds in SE Neb. But, that is where I hunted and didn't venture to any other parts of the state.

Igottabigone,
a question. I also want to kill a WT with my bow. What is the county like in SE Nebraska, Corn, riverbeds trees for tree stands?

I've only been around Wahoo hunting snow geese (March) but that was 20 years ago and didnt see alot of country since it was a blizzard all 5 days I was there.
