North Dakota-Whitetail Drawing Odds?

I've been invited to come hunt a big chunk of private land riverbottom and crop area. The guy said that the area is in the middle of the state, dont remember the name of the town but I'll get more info. He says he has a TON of deer on his 3500 acres.
What are the rough odds of a NR drawing a tag? Are the whitetail tags typically hard to get?
I'll know more later. This guys is a very good friend of my hunting partner and extended the welcome to both of us if we can get tags.

Thanks for the input!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-05-10 AT 04:35PM (MST)[p]Sounds like you've got yourself a pretty good "in". I've hunted whitetail in the eastern part of the state but it sounds like the country you'll be in is perfect for pulling out a nice buck.

I was a resident and never had to try draw a NR tag but I think we'll need more info to help you out. Which zone are you looking at? Are you talking archery? Rifle?

NR Rifle tags are hard to draw. I have put in for a couple years now without any luck. I do know that it depends on the area you are putting in for. I don't know all the details but do know that some areas are a tougher draw than others. You can buy a NR whitetail only Archery tag over the counter any time. no quota. They do have NR archery Whitetail or Muley tags that can be purchased over the counter but they are limited in number and tend to go quick. The archery season runs September thru Decmber. I have done that twice and loved it. I have a good friend who lives out there also.

1% of the tags are issued to NR. And also up to 1/2 of those tags in an unit can go to outfitters that leaves very little for the NR. I have drawn a whitetail tag once in about 7 years. I don't put in for the rifle season any more. Archery is the way to go in ND and early September can be great for patterning big whitetail bucks. Doe tags are easier to come by if you just want a nice fun trip to the state to hunt with friends.

Good luck

Got my unsuc email. Does any one know how to find out the actual draw odd numbers? I am curious to know how many people are putting in for how many tags in the unit I put it for. thanks.
