Black Hills deer hunting could be reduced

Associated Press - May 25, 2010 6:25 AM ET

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A proposal to offer fewer deer hunting licenses for the Black Hills will be considered at next month's meeting of the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission.

The season proposed by wildlife managers would run in November and offer about 2,300 fewer licenses for South Dakota hunters and 176 fewer licenses for nonresidents.

The Game, Fish and Parks Commission will act on the recommendation after taking public comment by mail, e-mail and in person at its June 3 meeting in Oacoma.
