Anyone have advice/experience on the early whitetail (Oct 23-Nov 2)out east in Colorado units 122/126/127? First time I will be chasing whitetail in CO. and any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.

Is the river bottom access all locked up in private land pretty much?

dont know much about those units, but i have hunted whiteys north of there. they will be in the vicinity of the river bottoms, but my experience is that they will spend some time in the hills surrounding the bottoms as well, especially if there is any sort of cover, oak brush, stands of trees, etc.

there might be some pre-rut action at that time, but they will mostly likely be active in the early morning and evenings. they will probably still be moving from bed to feed/water only.

tree stand on the edge of the bottoms or a strategically placed ground blind would be a good way to go.

good luck. typically on the plains the bucks have a chance to mature, so if you can find 'em they'll be big.
