Ty's buddy Cody still had a buck tag and Ty still has a moose tag so they headed out up along the river this morning. Caught up to this oldtimer in the jackpines-he has his left eye gouged out from fighting. Amazing that bucks that winter og jackpine moss can get this big.

I'm really starting to not like you guys...just kidding of course.
Thanks for posting all the pics of the big whiteys.
I have hunted up in northern Maine for whitetails several times, the locals up there call that moss you're talking about "deer candy" I couldn't believe the deer up there can survive on that crap!

Kind of makes all the furor about the proper food plot mix kind of redundant-they kill 200 inch deer in the forest have never seen a cultivated field in their life. It's funny out in the farmland up here where the deer will go feed-they'll travel through fields of grass green second cut hay to graze on wheat or canola stubble. When winter hits hard they move back in the swamps to live on that moss. Bucks seem to like those jackpine ridges-when I used to guide a bit a hunter took a 187 off a stand we'd just built on one.

Great old Buck, love that mass.
