I live in Utah and I'm looking to find a whitetail hunt where I would have a decent chance to find a good buck. I've never hunted them so I'm open to any suggestions. I was looking into possibly Kansas, Nebraska, or South Dakota. Wondering how public hunting in these states is or if I would need to pay a trespass fee for private. Any options for points in these states that would increase the chances at a good buck? Any info, advise, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

East River South Dakota I can put on some good land for good bucks. The NR draw dates are like Sept 1st or something around that date.

Clark county South Dakota is where I'm talking about.

going to kansas you would not be dissapointed. or the milk river in montana. but all this will cost money but will also reward and in a good buck. there are just so many options for whitetails

you know i dont know the cost. i once looked into a kansas whitetail hunt and i know i cant afford it. its those darn trophy fees they get you with based on inches of horns.

its going to take a lot of research to find what you want.

back in the days when i was in high school i wanted to do a hunt. an out-of-state hunt so which meant i had to be with a guide. i spent hours and hours of research on the net. finally i found a bear hunt in my price range. total of 1800 dollars. after deciding to do this i called the outfitter and asked him every question, he gave me honest answers.then my big question was ok i want 6 phone numbers from you. 3 people who got a bear and 3 people who did not. first the outffitter called the 6 people asking if it was ok for me to call.

all 6 were happy. the ones who did not tag out either missed or just wanted to kick back. all had one thing in common, its like being with family. the meals would put your mothers thanksgiving meal to shame.

boy were they right, i got a bear with my bow and had the time of my life. so thats the story how i started with finding a place to hunt.

Kansas doesn't have alot of public land as 98% is private but we do have some good deer around some of the lakes.Another option is there are a couple of places that offer the land and you DIY hunts with your own stands etc.I saw one on TV in ILL the other day.You can contact kansas wildlife and parks and ask for their walkin in and public access atlas and it has it all listed

You draw East River(Clark county) South Dakota and it wouldn't cost But your licenses and such. We can just swap out hunts and such. I posted up one my nephews son got last year. Good Buck.

If you want a good whitetail hunt and havent planned anything already this year Idaho has some of the best whitetail hunting in the west for 3 reasons. The first is you can buy a tag the day you get here and its fairly cheap ($301.00).The second reason is all the public land that there is to hunt. The third reason is the amount of deer there is to hunt. There are alot of different hunts that take place right now through the end of the year.If you like muzzloader hunting try unit 16 its a great hunt. The best time is usually Nov.20 and on for any of the hunts.Good luck wherever you try and post us a picture if you get one.

If you decide on whitetails in Idaho, be sure not to go too far north. I live near Coeur d'Alene and I haven't seen a deer, while hunting, in 4 days.
