LAST EDITED ON Sep-24-11 AT 08:26AM (MST)[p]I struck out drawing a tag out west but fortunately last Saturday I punched a tag opening day in WI.

I caught this guy sneaking out of his bedding area just before 7pm. Much earlier this spring/summer, I chain sawed a path for me to get to this particular set-up quietly and without crossing his game trails. Guess the pints of blood I gave the mosquitos while preparing the area paid off. He is 19" inside and has 14 scorable points.

It took quite a bit of work getting him out (I find areas other hunters don't want to go). I threw in a pic of a view from my stand. Try walking through this stuff!

I do have to admit, the entire time I was sitting in my stand I was daydreaming about elk and mule deer hunting though!

nice whitetail. thats some thick timber. i have to disagree with your muledeer statement, i would wway rather be bowhunting some whitetails. i drew a late whitetail tag and its keeping me from bowhunting. congrads on tht stud

That looks like tough hunting in there, But it did pay off big time with that nice buck.
