so i was out hanging trailcams, in the middle of some thick nasty stuff near where i saw the biggest buck ive ever laid eyes on last december. found my second lion kill of the day, and this one happened to be a buck. not only that, but an OLD buck. took the jawbone home, and there was hardly any tooth above the gumline, and the tops of the teeth enamel was toast, showing tons of the inner dentin. the bases are thick and covered in pokey junk at the bottoms, with a couple odd kickers off the back side. this is an old buck. on one hand it gives me hope that a buck could make it to that age in that area where i saw the big boy, on the other hand, i know how many cats are around, and finding 2 kills that day doesnt inspire confidence. just wish i would have found it before the squirrels destroyed the antlers. not much left, just enough to know he was an old boy, but still a shooter. dig that left browtine!
