Always nice to have a few Bucks on the radar for the upcoming season. I have a couple of big 6 1/2 year old Plus Eights in my sights.

Great pic's

That's cool.

TK, to me there aint nothing better than a big
stinking, ugly, 8 point. I love'em.

Awesome bucks!!! I second on the coordinates, j/k! I like the one that where the buck is sticking his tongue out, probably grunting, "see me, now ya gotta catch me" or something!

Looks like a cyclone fence in the background of the bottom two pics. is he around a residential area?

LAST EDITED ON Oct-11-07 AT 06:38AM (MST)[p]Corn or alfalfa fed private land pets. Not too tough to hunt.

I hunt near a dynamite making facility that is the fence around the place in the background.Polarbear doesnt hunt mature whitetails, pretty evident in his reply.Anyone who hunts big whiteys knows it is not easy to kill an old buck anywhere.

Man, you realy dont know me. Haahaaahaaa.... I can promise you that there are no fences, private property, or feed where I hunt. And yes, I do have over a half dozen mature Pope and Young Ferry County whities that I took legally and ethically with a bow, on heavily hunted public land without the use of bait, trail cams or weeks of scouting. I will admit that most of them are in the 150" range and one with a net of 168 7/8" (gross of 173 0/8"). I will take a hard earned public land 150" buck over a fed and "sat-on" buck any day. I do know how hard it is to kill a decent buck, the right way and not near a fence or in someone's back 40. If I wanted to hunt like that, I will go out an shoot one of my cows from the porch.

I have never killed a big buck over bait, what does trail cams and weeks of scouting have to do with your post. From what I gather you rely on a alot of luck in your hunting.Everyday that I hunt I am confident I will see a mature buck due to my summer scouting,I am not out to be just out.

I don't believe in luck. Luck is for road hunters. I use the skill of being able to read sign, topography, weather, moon phase etc. I have taken all of my better bucks within 200 yards of each other in a pocket that I spent years finding and studying. I guess that I should retract my statement about spending weeks scouting. If I had the time, I would do the same. I live 400 miles from where I hunt so I do not have the luxury of scouting my area constantly. I usually only have 3-4 days max to hunt so I do not waste a second farting around, driving roads or hanging out in camp. I am not a fan of the use of trail cams. To me it takes the mystery and fun out of not knowing exactly what has moved into or out of my favorite spot.
Most folks who hang trail cams (as is evident in your pics) use bait in order to draw the critter to their site. You say you havent shot a buck over bait but what about on its way to your bait pile? To me there is no difference. I take my hunting very seriously and have never and will never use bait or trail cams to "up my odds". If that is what floats your boat or gives you the edge to kill beter bucks than I, have at it.

I dont bait during hunting season I also dont use my cameras to find travel routes they are used soley to see what is running around in the areas I hunt during the summer. This is so I am not hunting an area that doesnt even have a 150 deer in it.

SHANEWA300, those are some great deer. Thanks for posting.
I grew up in the Colville valley and spent a good part of my career working in that area and looking for big whitetails. Might have to go back one of these years but I enjoy mule deer hunting a little more now.
I agree with you somewhat on your post regaqrding the moose hunt. I used to see bulls almost every year that would break the state record in the Aladin/Selkirk units.

Hey PolarBear,

WTF is your problem.

Keep patting yourself on the back because you have killed a few dinks with the bow.In my part of the world a 150inch buck is 3 1/2 years old and has just got the milk rubbed off his lips.Who are you to judge other people's hunting methods. As long as it is legal then you should keep your mouth shut.

Shane thanks for sharing the pics.
