Helping out the new guy (giving back to the sport you love)

Hello all,

My name is Austin and I am relatively new to Colorado(going on my 5th year). While I have hunted hogs in my native Florida, I am absolutely clueless when it comes to animals like elk and deer.
I am wondering if anyone would like an extra hand during their hunt... I am a young strapping male that knows how to keep his mouth shut and ears open. I am willing to pay my own way(gas, food, etc) and still help with the dirty work (packing the animal out!!) I am not looking to fill a tag personally, just want the ability to learn from an individual or group of hunters. I am very flexible and can respond on short notice if the opportunity seems right.

Here is a quick bio: 27 year old (male) who moved to Colorado in 2012. I am very athletic and played lacrosse in college. Very interested in all things outdoors which is why I am trying to get into hunting.

If you feel like giving back to the sport and helping out the new guy, send me a msg or respond to this post and we can meet up for beers and see if its a fit... I know this is a weird way to try and go on your first Elk hunt but its 2016 and I am desperate!!! Haha.

Thanks guys (and gals)

Hey Austin,

Shoot me a PM with your number. We can meet up and chat.

I try to take new guys every year that I can, and enjoy teaching.

I just moved to Colorado from New Mexico in january of 2016. Im going to miss being a resident in NM just because of elk hunting but excited about CO for its quality deer. Im 26 so feel free to shoot me a PM the wife and I go to Denver quite a bit and I'm looking for a hunting partner up here in CO. No offense to CO but its hard to get any info from these guys but i don't blame them. With all the OTC hunters and diminishing deer herd you have to keep your spots secret. I got a membership at the ft collins archery range and have met some good guys that when we go to talk hunting... they get pretty quiet when they start talking units and areas..... so when they ask about New Mexico I do the same so I've gone through and done a ton of research myself and was looking forward to spending a September in the Woods chasing bullish a OTC unit but i got sent to North Dakota for work and my wife drew a New Mexico Elk tag so there went my september. I actually met an awesome guy from Arvada on our hunt named Erv, he would spill the beans about everything he's seen in NM on his hunt but when he'd go to talking elk or deer in Colorado he'd keep a tight lip.As i said earlier i don't blame him. He said its frustrating because you will see license plates from all across the US and its hard to find a descent area that isn't over ran by out of staters. I just put in for points this year due to the fact my work schedule is so inconsistent but i normally only archery hunt and i use to guide in NM which after our hunt this year I've decided next september I'm going to be guiding if i don't have a tag. so shoot me a PM and maybe we can go out some weekend and see what this great state of colorado is all about.
