Sheep hunters

My rifle season started 08/15, and I got up there on 08/17.

To make a long story short, I had 16 rams, 14 of which were legal, in front of me at about 150yds. Most were 1/2 to 3/4 curl, with 2 being, maybe 7/8 and 2 just under 1/2 curl.

I did not shoot one. I saw these sheep earlier in the day and there were 17 of them, one of which had broomed horns, also about 7/8 curl, and that is the one I wanted.

When I next saw them, about 2 hours later, there were 16 rams, and I kept looking for the broomed ram. He did not show up. I am going back up this Sunday.

Here is a photo of the 16 rams at 150yds. I know it's not very good, but I was trying to take pictures, look through my rifle scope and look through my bino's, trying to find the broomed horn ram.

Went back up yesterday (Sunday), and no sheep were seen.

We did see 9 goats and 5 Mule Deer bucks, probably the same 5 bucks I saw on 08/17.

We got rain/sleet/snowed on in the afternoon, with a storm moving N over us.

At one point, we were sitting on an open knob glassing, and we had lightning close enough that we decided it was time to get off the knob, and quickly, lol.

So, now my master plan is to go back up this Wednesday, the last day of my season, and try the same area.

A sheep tag is rare indeed and I know from experience that bringing home sheep tag soup leaves a very terrible taste in your mouth.

Go get them boys and be sure to post pics!
 
so far getting my ass kicked...
had three little ones at 28 yards as of yet. They are treed up in brutal country where you need two legs and two arms to navigate and two more arms to draw and shoot, I'm a couple limbs short...

purty though!

Hang in there fella's as those tags are tough to come by and sometimes even tougher to fill!
