I picked up a unit 501 second season tag for my wife off the reissue list and am looking for some advise. I have never spent time in this unit but have done some research. I was wondering if anyone had any experience they would be willing to share?

My main concern is with second season being in the end of Oct if I should be looking high or more toward their winter grounds.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks for the help and this is a elk hunt.

Do you typically how crowded the unit will be during 2nd season?

They don't issue "a lot" of tags for unit but still isn't a premium unit so there will be other hunters. However if you get into wilderness and away from pack trails there isn't going to be a lot of pressure.
