Has anyone seen any rut activity yet? I know its been a rough 2nd season I'm trying to keep my hopes up for third season.
 
I saw a 2x2 pt pushing some doe - that's it. He really wasn't even pushing them, but with them. 3rd season weather doesn't look much better, but the extra week will help.
 
Nothing really to speak of. Young bucks hanging around the does, but not any Mature bucks yet. Another week should just get it started. Hoping for a solid cold-front, and that would really help.
 
I have been up glassing bucks in my unit 3 of the last 4 days. Seen 65 deer total. bucks were all in bachelor groups yet except two. There was a spike and two forkhorns with does but they acted like they were off spring of doe in group only. They were just mingling and eating together.

I did see two smaller bucks sparring a little but that happens as soon as velvet comes off too.

3rd season hunters will get some of the pre-rut. smaller bucks will be starting to get with does near end of week. Bigger bucks will still be by themselves. Bachelor groups will start breaking up any day now (for most part). Some bucks always seem to hang together (maybe they just haven't come out of the cave yet though ;) )

Depends on the area I think. There were some bucks acting pretty rutty on my Utah general hunt last week and areas in Colorado had reports of the same, but it wasn't widespread by any means. Next week should be good in a lot of places.
