Saw quite a few trucks loaded up and headed out today, on my way back home from the Urban jungle. Good luck all of you with 3rd Season Deer (and Elk) tags!

I didn't draw my deer tag that I was sure I would, this year..... and I'm just a wee bit Jealous of those that have them this year. Can't wait to see Pics!

I'll be around Montrose this weekend and most of next week. If anyone needs something, ping me here.

Its gonna be a tough one. I been out glassing in my unit 3 of last 4 nights. Does start moving in shade around 3-3:30 but bucks are last 30 minutes of light and some are later than that. I know rut won't be going but by now temps are usually a little cooler and deer are moving more in daylight. Not this year, going to catch them in those thick and cool places.
Good luck

Pretty consistent weather pattern for the next 10 days it seems. Might have been better off with a fall fishing trip instead of 3rs season deer... Nah on second thought I'll still take the deer hunt.

saddling up anyway."

I'm leaving the house on Saturday morning and won't make it out there til Sunday around 11 am. Gonna set up camp and head out and find a good spot to glass the next morning. I can't wait. I've heard deer are moving into the area so I'm pleased. I've got 6 full days to hunt. Good luck to you all.

Cancer doesn't discriminate...don't take your good health for granted because it can be gone in a heartbeat. Please go back and read the last line. This time really understand what it says.

Well my hunt is bittersweet. My father in law and I both drew for 3rd season 62 and we have been excited. Well last Friday his house burned down and he lost everything. We are working on a refund for him but I didn't think I could get one and now I'm flying solo as I can't find anyone to go with on such short notice. Originally we were planning on heading out Friday the 4th but now I'm gonna wait to head out til Monday and try to stay til the end. Anyway hopefully I can luck out and find a good one. Good luck to everyone.

If any of you guys need help over the weekend Palisade is pretty close to a couple of you. PM me for a phone number. I won't be able to come to camp but if you need help with a packout or trouble...

Hey Beanman,

If you are looking for some thing to do Monday and Tuesday, I will be in Camp alone and hunting solo those 2 days. Bring up a bedroll and kick around with me. I am sure you have work, but your always welcome to come put around in the jeep.

Thanks Elks, my cohort at work is hunting that week so I have to man the fort. I'm hunting 4th season and he will man the for that week.

Figured as mush. Deer tag for 4th?

Well I had to cancel my annual trip to Colorado currently sitting in the hospital with a bout of pneumonia. There's always next year at least I was able to make it to Wyoming early October takes some of the sting out of it.

Hey Beanman, pretty nice of you to offer that help.I wished I lived in that area,as I would enjoy helping others. We've Hunted that area for over 35 years.
We need more hunters like you.

OILCAN.....THATS A BAD BREAK, HOPE YOUR DOING BETTER. NEXT YEAR WILL BE HERE BEFORE YOU KNOW IT. THE ANTICIPITAION IS GOOD FOR ALL OF US..........YD.

Rough Weather for you guys that burned points this year! I didn't draw the tag that I should have been nearly guaranteed, and now I'm thinking might have been a blessing in disguise.

Anyone put one down yet? Hearing mixed reports of some rut activity

Shared a write up/pics in general forum but was good. Seen a lot of bucks and seen some good ones. Was tough/different but if a person was in position before light and sat till dark you'd see bucks.
High temps and clear skies did no one any favors, good luck in the draw this spring. Dates are only 1 day earlier so you should still have a good hunt. Can't imagine temps would be like this two years in a row...

I saw excellent Rutting activity around my place Thurs- Sunday evening. Quite a few Mature bucks showing up "out of nowhere".

Hope some of you guys managed to stick it out until the end and hammer a Big'n
