C'mon guys.... Post up some reports from the November hunts. Lots of guys looking for help before the hunts, and now, mostly crickets. I know the weather was tough, but I know a few must have done well!!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-16 AT 11:50AM (MST)[p]I found the 4th season to be slow for deer. I saw three bucks in three days, other years would have seen thirty or so n the same amount of time. Buck #3 was decent and since things were slow, he hit the dirt!

Good job ! Seems like was a pretty tough hunt this year even with the later hunt dates.

Every hunting season you miss is one you can not make up

My brother and I hunted 3rd season. I filled my tag and he ate his. We saw around 30 bucks during the hunt from Monday to Sunday. Saw bucks chasing hard, a few still in bachelor groups, and a couple already claiming herds of does. The area we hunted looked like an orange army in most places we went. Even getting off the road 1-3 miles, we ran into quite a bit of hunters. Tuesday seemed to be our best day. That morning my brother went after a good buck, but the deer slipped away in the thick brush. Tuesday evening I put a long stalk on mine and got within 240 yards to end my season. The second best buck we saw on public was about 150ish 4x4, with most being younger 3x3's and 4x4's

We hunted 3rd season and had 3 tags. We went 2 for 3 and shot a couple great bucks. It took us 6 days to find where the good bucks were but once we did it was game on. We chased good bucks everyday after that.

Hunted low for the first 7 days, tough hunt but we still were able to see elk 5 of 7 days, 1 day my buddy missed his cow. One of the other days we got close on 3 monsters (380+ monsters) all together. Great memory in both our minds, Jumped them at 300 yds. Other days fighting the pressure & having guys hunt around us knowing we were in the woods.

The final two days found us at 10,000ft, saw elk both days & connected with this bull on Sunday. We got into a herd of 7 bulls, Dropped mine & almost got ran over by another 6pt. & I looked at my buddy & with a TEAR in his eye he said I should have got a bull tag.

The one thing I see in all those pics is no snow.

We hunted 35 fourth season and stuck out. We found some legs and carcases but very little deer. Hunted as high as we could go. We did have about a 4 inch snow event on the 2nd day but wasn't enough to change things. The deer we saw on private were very stupid, and even saw some breed. Oh well I really didn't need those 18 NR points anyway.

CHWino, here's 3rd season 35 buck in the Castle Creek area. Great buck was on private but wouldn't come out. I took this as I did not want to drag my fat a$$ back up there. Made a horrible shot but at least my son (Oakbrush) was back to work on Monday. Without him it wouldn't have happened.

Went 1 for 2 on a 4th season hunt, pretty tough before the 3 inches of snow and got better on days 3-5. The problem seemed to be that the deer were spread out. They were with does after the snow, but I think the bigger bucks stayed with the does that stayed up higher. That is my guess/opinion as there were smaller bucks low with the does.

I am happy with this guy for sure.

Awesome Bucks and Bulls Gents! Congrats to you all. I knew there had to be a few out there. Tough November overall it sounds like. Silver lining for those that didn't draw.... There should be quite a few mature Bucks on the mountain next year, that made it through this one..

>Look like great time's with
>great buck is they a
>tag I could get wit
>5 points in Colorado

This is a 4th Season tag that could be drawn with less than 5 points. I went into this unit totally blind using just the winter range maps available online. Just about every unit in Colorado holds big deer, you just need to get a little lucky.

Start studying the harvest reports and go hunting. Good luck in the draws.

Had a real tough time finding deer, in fact, one day we only saw 2 does. 4.5 days of hunting we saw probably 8-10 bucks. One cool looking non-typical that got away. Shot this buck on the last day. I had basically decided I wasn't going to kill a buck on this trip. I could tell he was a mature deer with plenty of does. Never knew what I shot until I walked up to him. 4th season south central Colorado. Overall, wish I would have saved my points.

we had 3 tags for 3rd season unit 35, I have never seen such beautiful mule deer country in my life with no deer living there. Ha Ha we arrived monday and hunted until saturday with no good bucks spotted. We did see one 180 type buck on private land but he would not come to the public side. We had fun and glassed our ass off but just couldn't find the deer.

>BigFin, can't wait to see that
>hunt. Any idea when it
>will air?

Probably in September, again in October, and again in December. I suspect it will be well received, given what it took to find it and the two day extraction to get it back to the trail head.

This is a 3rd season buck in NW CO. No snow and not a ton of deer but enough to make it fun. Didn't see any better than average bucks. There wasn't much that could have been done differently. The weather was what it was and we think that the deer hadn't moved into the unit yet. Just because you draw a later season hunt doesn't mean that it'll be a better hunt. If it's a weather dependent hunt, you might get the short end of the stick. I still had a really good time on this hunt. First time hunting CO. I will be back but will be hunting a different unit so I don't have to chase so many points.
