Gov deer tags.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-25-16 AT 09:17PM (MST)[p]A good friend of mine had one of the raffle tags and filled it opening day of archery season with a 34 inch wide 234 inch buck... theres a picture floating around on MM. Other than that i think both auction tags went unfilled. Can't speak for the other raffle tag.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-26-16 AT 08:08AM (MST)[p]Actually i know of a good number of big deer that got killed this year. They just avoided social media fame.

I've had 2 figger tag soup, quite a bit... not bad
I've had 3 figger tag soup, a couple times... needed spices
I've had 4 figger tag soup, once... a little bitter
Never had 5 figger tag soup, hope I never do.
6 figger tag soup would no doubt give me the blue collar vapors... and would undoubtedly be mentioned at the divorce hearing.

My current situation precludes me from caring about your opinion but go ahead and give voice to it anyway...

Coloradoboy,

I think what YBO was saying that it was a tough year in CO for big deer. I agree with this generally speaking as the weather was extremely warm in 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons. If you talk to the majority of hunters who spent decades of points they were a tad bit disappointed. I don't think he was saying no big deer got killed. You come off cocky and arrogant with your comments. I have tons of pictures every year that don't make the internet and I don't believe that makes me special in any way.

I have watched you for some time and think that you are a good kid and I was hoping that you learned from your mistakes.

Not sure how i come off cocky and arrogant... my intention was to be matter of and too the point. Was it a tough year as far as weather comditions, yes. But there were some great bucks harvested this year despite the conditions. Alot of them just didn't surface on the WWW or MM's for that matter and they are not my pictures to share. Not sure how that makes me special. But i apologize for the way you interpreted my post. I was simply trying to share what I knew.

Awesome buck - congratulations to the hunter - I remember going whitetail hunting in the Burlington area in 1992 - hunted around the Republican River - I don't remember any land at that time leased by outfitters and getting permission to hunt was pretty easy - you could hunt mule deer or whitetail at that time - bet one would find it pretty difficult to get permission to hunt on private land today - but you know a lot of things have changed since 1992. Wishing all of you a prosperous and healthy 2017.

I thought same too, I think it goes until the regular season ends in that area. East of I-25 dates run late.

Gov Tags are good till the end of the month of last specified season. East of 25 has a rifle season ending on the 14th of Dec, so Gov Tag would be good until Dec 31st.

Seems like the new trend is to take the deer during archery, since you can't hunt December anymore. Also, it's easier to pattern them.

Maybe it should be illegal to use a rifle while the bucks are in the velvet? Just kidding.

I'm so sick of the posse hero shots. That's a good buck but nothing special for the amount of money that guy paid for the tag, Brownlee Posse fees, private access fees and having to wait until 3 days before the season ended to connect. Hopefully the tag fee went to a good cause to benefit Mule Deer in CO.
