Elk population unit 4

A buddy shot up deer up there last year that was positive for CWD (and looked like it too). I would be more worried about that.
 
They've all got it, the elk too, at least those this winter didn't kill. I wouldn't hunt there!

Not only CWD, but they also have crabs. I had a buddy who caught it up there, and got in big trouble when he got home. Luckily he had his deer "tested" and it came back positive...


Sorry could not help it. CWD has been up there for years and everyone and a while it shows up. Still a really low infection rate and there is no evidence to suggest it is transmissible to humans. Mortality rates from CWD in the north are low.

I have a feeling that the winter kill on elk for the area is around average to slightly higher than average. Definitely nothing like 07/08. Deer are probably a little worse off but we have had some real weird weather.

I think the unit 4 elk all moved to Wyo...
