Text: H.R.621 ? 115th Congress (2017-2018)All Bill Information (Except Text)

As of 01/26/2017 text has not been received for H.R.621 - To direct the Secretary of the Interior to sell certain Federal lands in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming, previously identified as suitable for disposal, and for other purposes.

\n\n Bills are generally sent to the Library of Congress from GPO, the Government Publishing Office, a day or two after they are introduced on the floor of the House or Senate. Delays can occur when there are a large number of bills to prepare or when a very large bill has to be printed.

Big list of CO western slope BLM lands proposed for sale by Trump Dept of the Interior TODAY.

where is a specific description of this "Big list of CO western slope BLM lands "??

"As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and complete narcissistic moron."
- H.L. Mencken, the Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920

LAST EDITED ON Jan-27-17 AT 09:07AM (MST)[p]So looking at the White a River plan, here is what I find...

First of all I am not sure why this just came up? I know BHA is always trying to sell and get money. They sadly have a tendency to blow things significantly out of proportion. So the bigger question is this a true threat or just a chance to raise money?

In the white river field office the lands identified are catagory 1 sale/disposal lands is a very long list, however that list consist of land sizes anywhere from .26 acres to 122 acres or so with over 70% being 40 acres or less. While I have not looked up township and ranges on maps. I would bet that most are wierd little spots where access is tricky or are land locked with out access or they provide no energy or wildlife benefit large enough to protect.

The bigger concern is the White River Plan was written in 1997. These lands have been identified as a priority for sale or trade since then. So for the last 20 years it has been a policy of the agency to trade off these lands. In some cases this land may already be gone, if not it is probably not worth the effort of a private individual or corporation to peruse.

Realize that it is still the objective and charge to the BLM to manage resources for Multiple uses. Furthermore they also have lands that provide no value to anyone. I have seen a few places traded in the NW Colorado where we gave up a small but good chunk of land for a much larger chunk that was not as good. Net result was an increase public lands,

This is the way the republicans will try to sell public lands. most of the parcels on the list today are next to a Walmart or landlocked where the public can't access them. so it makes sense to dispose of them.

But left to creeps like Chavetz they'll slip in Yellowstone Park on the list if nobody is watching.

This of course is if the can't pass legislation to just hang a for sale sign on it outright.

Stay Thirsty My Friends

I've not look at the Colorado maps, but I have looked at some from other states, including places where I/family/friends hunt.

A lot of Idaho deer and Chuckar get shot on these big blocks of land listed on the Jarbidge map. These are big chunks of very accessible land with public roads through them and most of them parts of big blocks of contiguous BLM lands. In fact, a surface map shows this entire area being mostly BLM lands. The deflection argument is that these are "inaccessible" lands. Not the case for many I am seeing, with this being one small example.

"Hunt when you can - You're gonna' run out of health before you run out of money!"

BigFin,

I agree. I am not sure on the states and different areas. But I did look at the one for the White River. They did not have maps for the locations, but I will be looking closely at it.

I would like to see the state level chapters of BHA tackle the mapping the mapping process and provide that information. This would allow us locally on the state level and federal level to pin point specific areas we want to fight for. Because it makes not sense fighting to protect the .28 acres by Walmart or the 36 acres land locked when it could be traded or sold.
