Talked to a front desk gal in the ft collins office yesterday she said in the next week or two. Expecting one in the mail any day now.

See "table Symbols" on page 19.

? AN ASTERISK ( * ) in the ?Sex? column indicates
units that had licenses remaining after last
year?s drawing. NOTE THAT SEVERAL OF THESE
HUNTS DO REQUIRE PREFERENCE POINTS, as
some successful applicants return licenses, making
them available as leftovers.

I noticed all the asterisks too and then noticed this:

AN ASTERISK ( * )in the ?Sex? column indicates units that had licenses remaining after last year?s drawing. NOTE THAT SEVERAL OF THESE HUNTS DO REQUIRE PREFERENCE POINTS as some successful applicants return licenses, making them available as leftovers.

So, if I am reading this right - If a unit took 4 points to draw, had 50 licenses and 1000 people applied for those 50 licenses and one guy turned in a tag, it is showing up as a unit that had leftovers? If this is the case, they just ruined a perfectly good tool in the brochure.

Pretzel logic, indeed. Some who skip this nuance will be furious when they don't draw the asterisk unit w 0 pps. And rightly so.

I am seeing Asterisks on Deer and Pronghorn units that have not had left over tags for years. Their is going to be Guys that see this and put in for those tags screwing up all the odds thinking they are getting a for sure tag. Drawing a tag this year is going to be a cluster Fahck !!!

I was at a meeting in Meeker last night and hit on this topic. It was agreed that using this was a major error and I let the the regional guy know that it was a failure on the part of CPW. I am willing to bet this will be the last year we see such an issue because many people will now have the wrong impression.

Also to clarify on CWD Testing... There will be mandatory CWD testing in certain units but only for specific hunters. For example in unit 22 out of the 250 tags they may only require that 70 of those with tags turn in a mandatory sample.

Last year they had an unusual spike in CWD positive test in the NW. They are are dong limited mandatory testing to get a better feel it the positives were a random anomaly, or if there is an actual up tick in CWD. If the sampling this year shows an increase then they more go bigger and further or if there is no incerase they may drop it back down to voluntary.

Saw this as well.. Wonder where the other tags end up?

They are referring to the fact that under new rules some of the top licenses will be issued to the next person in line. I believe that any tag returned that took more than 5 pp to draw end up going to next person in line.

I don't see that in brochure. It talks about proof of residency being 6 months, DL etc... but it doesn't say anything about sending them proof. When you apply it just has where you enter the information in online.

Got mine today. Already know what units I'm putting in for but the big question now is what's going to happen with the tag quotas and if guys are going to be trying for third and fourth season tags like they were trying last year, or if guys will hold off...

I think the thing to do is just hunt! Seasons this past fall were the latest they will be in a long time and due to late snow, they were for the most part a bust. Its a crapshoot

YD, I see that but when you refer to page 18 there is nothing said about having to prove it by sending in a photo copy.
on page 18 under residency requirements #2 it talks about if your DL is under the 6 month time period you have to come up with something else to prove your residency. Other than that simply entering in your DL information online when applying will be good.

Good luck in draw this year for you :)
