Hello fellow MMers. Any one know how the snow conditions and the deer are doing in the units referenced above? Particularly interested in the area south of Pagosa Springs by Pagosa Junction and the Colorado/ NM border?

DW, thanks. Was thinking of applying there this year and was wondering if it would be worth burning 3 PPs on a fourth season tag given the snow conditions.

3 pts is no guarantee. And the numbers indicate that people are quite serious ablt getting the tag with 3-4 pts, comparing applicants to tags.

Was through there about a month ago and most of the weather was in the form of rain, been pretty warm. Not sure what has happened since but I don't expect much snow on the ground, it's fairly low country.

As it relates to those areas, not much public land there. Mostly So. Ute and quite a bit of private too. Have a good map because the Southern Utes and land owners take trespassing very seriously there. If you can find a good patch of public ground and decide to hunt, report back and let us know how you did. Good luck!

Hunt Hard. Shoot Straight. Kill Clean. Apologize to No One.

Thanks. Have done some preliminary research and you are right. Lots of private, Southern Ute and little public. Have heard an area known as Valle Seco, I believe, just NNW of
Chromo holds some public and can be good on fourth season if the high country gets significant snowfall.
Be sure to report back if draw a tag.

Thanks. You are right. Have done some research and area is primarily private, Southern Ute, and very little public. Supposedly some public NNW of Chromo known as Valle Seco I believe that can be good on the fourth hunt if snow hits higher elevations.
Report back if successful in the draw.
Sorry if double posted.

DW, area just NNW of Chromo and SSE of Pagosa Springs in an area known as Valle Seco I am told, is good on the fourth hunt if the high country gets snow.
Believe it does take at least three PPs. Most of this unit is Private or Ute! Good luck on whatever you decide!
