Lodging in Unit 61

I have a friend that wants to put in for Unit 61 Elk. Is there any lodging in the area that is convenient to getting up the mountain for a daily hunt.

Gateway Canyons Resort is right @ the northwest corner of the unit. A humble little spot.

Weimers do rent space in their bunkhouse but I doubt that is what your buddy is looking for.

Gateway is a very nice looking spot but the price sure is humbling.

A couple motels in Naturita that are OK. All the oil rig guys seem to stay there, but can find a few empty rooms.

Thanks. I was looking at that area. Will be a PIA drive each day but he has no camping gear and I'm flying in from Maryland to hunt with him.

I was halfway kidding RE Gateway. The next thing is Nucla/Naturita. Rent an RV/tent camper in GJ/Delta/Montrose? Drop Camp? What season R U hunting?

I have cabins that we rent to hunters, North end of units 61&62.
Very close to having them booked up though.

Another place to look is Norwood, it is 18 minutes from Naturita and Nucla. A hell of a lot more places to eat and get supplies there. There is the Norwood Inn and Back Country Hotel.
