Does anyone have experience in unit 22 3rd season? I could probably draw. Would appreciate some input. Thanks!

Used to be a good 3rd season hunt for the 1 or 2 Non-res points it took to draw it. Hunted it three times in the early 2000's but I haven't hunted it since 08 when the point creep started. I liked being able to hunt it every other year but not an area I would want to burn 8+ points on. Especially now that thousands of acres that were open to the public has been shutdown to hunting.

My experience last year was that losing the oil lease land was not an issue at all. The unit is huge...I never felt there was any area that was heavily hit with hunters. I'm not sure if I'd burn 8-9 points on this unit. You'll get plenty of feedback here I'm sure. I've decided that I wouldn't wait the 4-5 years to draw a 2nd season tag as a NR. Good luck!

I drew that hunt with 4 points about 4 years ago. My friends live in Rangely and I hunted the land that is now closed to public.
If it still took 4 points to draw I would go again because it was a good hunt and I could also visit my friends, but now at 8 points I won't bother. My buddy shot a 200" buck 2nd season last year in a 0 point unit as a non resident!! Magazines like the Huntin Fool didn't do this unit any help by saying it was top 5.
