Unit 65 road/trail conditions

I drew a unit 64/65 early rifle deer tag. I intend to hunt the wilderness. Hoping someone might live in the area and could tell me what the road/trail conditions are like. I intended to drive over this weekend but after looking on the Forest's website two of the roads I wanted to utilize are still closed.
Anyone hiked into the wilderness this spring? Can I access Middle Fork, East Fork or Wetterhorn trails? I'd prefer Wetterhorn but I don't think I can get my horse trailer to the trail head. Forest just says Owl Creek Pass is closed. Has anyone been there? Expected time frame for snow to melt out?
Obviously I'm bringing horses and intend to stay in the wilderness. I'd like to find a giant but more importantly I want to see few people. Between elk and sheep hunters and the hikers I want to be in areas where a mature deer doesn't have pressure. If anyone know the unit, has suggestions, stories anything about the area I'd love to hear from you. I have been in contact with the Forest and division. I'm not asking for "honey holes", just an idea of trail conditions and onsite on areas where someone would run into a lot of tourists. And, knowledge of when the snow typically melts off the peaks.

Thanks in advance

Be patient....streams are HIGH....I know of 3 ATV'S.
THAT have rolled down stream.. The raft guys are reporting calf elk floaters...I know of one sheep scouting party that planned a four day trip they made it 1/2 mile couldn't cross...

LAST EDITED ON Jul-22-17 AT 09:10AM (MST)[p]I spent 3 days scouting a week ago. Didn't see many deer. Hiked into the wilderness mainly on the north east side of 65 but also hiked across american flats into cow creek. I saw hundreds of elk but only about 20 deer. No fawns. Anyone else seeing the same. Anyone have suggestions on where I should check next? I'm headed back in a week to scout another 3-4 days. Thanks,

The wilderness holds less deer but you might find a giant. Just park lower in the West Fork if you want to access the Wetterhorn Trailhead, the road isn't good enough for a trailer. It's been raining every day and forcasted to continue so the roads aren't getting better any time soon.

The mountains, not the hills.

Thanks for advice. My sons and I hike to the saddle off cockscomb Peak and glassed Wetterhorn and top of Cow. Still not seeing deer... considering turn tag back.

Your scouting took you to a great spot! I remember looking from there into Wetterhorn Basin and seeing sheep-domestic.

I saw this post and thought I would like to see it refreshed.
Myself, a co-worker and my son in law drew 2nd season rifle buck permits here this year. I'm looking for any local information regarding road conditions specifically on the Owl Creek pass road. This will be my 3rd time hunting this area so I'm pretty familiar with this part of the unit. Time permitting I would like to explore more of the southern part of the unit. I welcome any of you who would be kind enough and willing to share your thoughts about any part of the unit.

I could use some similar info, I picked up a 3rd season tag off the reissued list.
