"NW corner antler growth"

Heading out on Wed. for my Unit 1 archery elk hunt. I know it's been a rough summer for moisture.

How was the winter?

Do you think the moisture and/or winter were bad enough to effect antler growth?

Do you think the dry conditions will have the elk grouped up in the better water/feed areas and less spread out?

The mountains, not the hills.

Winter was pretty tough, but the elk did well, saw quite a few calves that winter killed, but the mature animals seemed to fair well. We have had lots of rain the last couple weeks, and lots of snow through the winter, antlers should be doing pretty good. Those elk move back and forth between monument, and Utah quite a bit but you should do ok, there are a lot of elk using the area.

Are you the guy with the archery deer tag up there as well?

Thanks for the response Jake. Sounds like thing should be good! I'm aware of the monument, private and Utah issues, but I'm planning being patient and waiting for the kind of bull that I want.

I don't have a buck tag for the unit but would love to chat with the guy that does. We could share info.

The mountains, not the hills.

I've got the muzzy deer tag. Plan on the north end of the unit. Not the south. I'll let you know what I see for bulls. I think Jake will agree with me. If yo see a big buck let me know. I will the same on a big bull
