Unit 22 camping

There is a state camp ground at little hills. Off of county road 22. It is just a large flat area with a couple port a pots and places to hang animals etc.

It is really the organized camping area in the unit. Otherwise Pick Just about any county road drive out of the private bottom and pick a spot. They are all over the place.

I don't have any info, but I'm interested in the responses because I'm considering unit 22 second season for next year. Hopefully you can get some good info.

Thank you elks96. Can i get your thoughts how tough it will be to find a 20" plus buck between county roads 24 and 26, never hunted that area.

I scouted unit 22 last November in the north western corner and barely saw any deer. Wasn't very impressed with the few that I saw.

That said, a 20" buck shouldn't be too unreasonable, but I do know 2nd season is a little more difficult than the later seasons.

As previously mentioned, there are tons of non-improved campsites.

Best of luck to you and post a pick if you are successful.

I was there last year in 3rd season and I found plenty of places to camp from looking at google earth. If you need to move...you'll find a place anywhere. Elks will point you in the right direction. Good luck...

Man I can't wait to be there in a couple days. The wifey has a tag and she's pretty wound up about it. Only have made one trip through the area so hopefully the deer are up and moving and the learning goes quick. Good luck to everyone and stay safe.

KJW, storm front coming in Thursday. The bigger bucks are showing up. You should have a great hunt.
