"Heading to 61 on Monday"

Getting ready to bow hunt for elk in Unit 61 the last week of Archery. I some good ideas of where to start but given the number of years it takes to draw this unit, I am trying to be as diligent as possible.

Anyone with any insight/tips/suggestions. All help is valued and appreciated.

Also wondering if anyone noticed any changes in the unit given the power line work going on in the south end of the unit.

Thanks in advance

just got back from 61, spent several days driving around on the atv and walking into areas I know and others I'm trying to learn. Started at the north end, moved camp 4 times as we worked our way to the south end. DRY as it's ever been according to a horse riding CPW agent I ran in to. Water is at a premium, lots of the small ponds and springs are now dry, found one wallow and it was tore up! Scouted from the top areas all the way down into the pinions and never heard a bugle. Felt bad for the muzzle loaders. Hope the unit gets a lot of rain and cooler temps ASAP as my buddy has a second season tag.
