Deer hides & heads

LAST EDITED ON Oct-13-17 AT 04:20PM (MST)[p]What do you guys do with the Deer Hide / head, after quartering up / skinning at camp? Do you sell them? Bury them? Leave them for the coyotes?

I dont plan on mounting the deer head, but would like to keep the skull plate & antlers.
 
I leave the hide and head where they lay after quartering if I don't want them. We left the head of a cow at the kill site this year. No reason to packnout a heavy head on a female. Proof of sex is attached to the meat. Of course if a bull you have to take out the head to prove it was legal. If you then take the head out of state you need to check regs in your state. It is not legal to bring a head with a brain or a spinal cord back into Texas

I usually leave that stuff on the mountain and pack out the meat and the skull plate or the skinned head for a euro mount. I have sold a few capes on a few animals that were mature but I wasn't going to use it.
 
Also, I didn't know you had to keep the head on a male to prove legal. I have always kept proof of sex on the meat. Makes sense though. I think I have always brought the antlers/horns out on everything I have shot anyway.

4 point or better elk areas in Colorado.
