No doubt about it......

It's not a good change for the applicant, it is only beneficial for DOW, who will collect more fees from more applicants....

Minimal... The points will creep a ton for NR, residents, not so much. I mean when was the last time you heard of a resident say, man no points for me this year can not afford an elk tag.

With the Big 3- Moose, Sheep and Goat, the already horrible odds will only get a little worse...

Yes the odds will go down for both NR and R.

My partner always put in for 1 or 2 of the Big three but never all. This year, he's all in.

The odds will drop but it will save the DOW a ton cash. I'm ok with the change.

Signed up for my tags yesterday and that was pretty simple. I made a change to one of the tags this morning and that was simple too. Especially, compared to the old system.

More money for the DOW, worse odds for us. Can't blame them.

****Be on the lookout for raising the application price probably starting next year*****

I thought it was going to go up this year. They even want to take away the free fishing license from seniors.

If they get too stupid with the price of tags, i'll just hunt for elk and drop bear and deer. So, they still won't get any more money from me.

I can hear the justification for the 66% increase in application fee already.

Unless you're in the 0 point pool today I don't see why it would effect deer or elk tag point creep much at all. the big 3 yes.

if the application fee goes up it will improve the deer and elk draw odds. since there are no random tags in CO it only helps.

It won't affect the higher point hunts at all, at least for awhile. But that is not what most of us do. Most of us hunt the 0 to 3 point units so we can hunt more often. And that is where it will have its biggest impact. Immediately in the 0 points units, and soon in the 1-3 pointers.

Current "application fees" are $3 per species, so I would anticipate maybe tripling the fees to around $10. They already charge $40 per species for a point. Of course if you are like me and hunt every year, you don't pay for points, so that is why they will raise the app fees.

Eventually it should impact odds for the high priced species like moose, sheep, goats, etc. I know several guys that haven't put in previously cause they couldn't afford to apply for multiple species especially those that have kids that hunt. So in 3 years, my moose odds which are already extremely low will get worse for certain. Hope I get lucky within the next 3 years!!!

This year is a real crapshoot. I might fail at tags that were easy for me to get before. I really don't know what to expect.
