No fees upfront

I'm a NM resident and I thought this rule change on no full tag fees upfront was just for NRs, but I'm being told this affects Residents too. This seems like it's gonna cause more residents to apply for more tags now, are u guys worried about this driving the point creep up? Personally I think it's BS. If you can't afford the upfront fee than you can't afford it when you draw the tag

I expect virtually no increase in resident apps cause it wasn't that much money even at full price. But within the next couple of years, the NRs apps should go way up. Not good news for us...

Hey Bean, Utah allows NRs to apply for multiple species/tag but only lets residents apply for 1 species per year. I don't see that changing either because residents don't want to apply for more than one because when they allowed us to do that, our odds of drawing dropped dramatically

Utah residents can only apply for one species per year? I'm glad I'm not a Utard.

Something does not seem right when you can have more wives than hunting tags. Sorry, this is just an attempt at uneducated humor.
No offense meant.

You're wrong. It was $750 to apply for moose sheep and mountain goat. Those apps will increase significantly.

Tim,

I know I am only 38 miles from the line but I'll keep the Wife I have and have multiple tags...

Residents do not want to apply for more than one Limited entry tag. Due to the very limited numbers in Utah, if they did that their odds of drawing would drop dramatically. Which ours did when they allowed us to. I wish they would let everyone apply for unlimited points, but only one tag.

In reality, that is what we are doing: applying for only one tag. Because we are only allowed to draw one tag a year. So even though we are applying for multiple tags on the application, if we draw one, we are removed from all other drawings! :-(

There are still "general tag hunts" that can be had every year for both deer and elk, but not LE tags.

82nd...........Why rag on the residents? We didn't change the damn law. I put in for my tags and could care less when they take my money. I always get my tags.

There will definitely be more non-resident applicants. I have been building deer and elk points for 11 years. When I applied this year I was shocked, I had not heard about the change. I called my friends and 3 of them applied before the deadline and will begin building points for deer and elk. Glad I am ahead of this point class.

When did I rag on residents? Just curious how they feel considering the effects this could bring. Personally I'm against this change.

Do you think this will affect the hunts we can get as 2nd or later choices?

I guess it could if it causes a significant increase in applicants.
