After many years of saving points, I ended up cashing them in on 44 4th deer. Hoping for some snow, I know this unit has the potential but is highly dependent on some weather. Hoping to talk with some who have had this tag, and would share their experience. Thanks..

Seems like there were a couple guys last year that had your tag. You could research this forum and maybe the Mule Deer forum and find more info. Congrats on getting the tag!

Every hunting season you miss is one you can not make up

J,
Went out last year and looked around. I can help with some starting points but hopefully guys with more expierence will chime in.
Good luck with the weather.

I had that tag last year and even though it was dry when we did get some snow I got lucky and found a nice deer. It gross was 191 3/8 with 3 5/8 of deductions. This was something I was hoping for from this unit(waiting 24 years/23 points) and I got lucky and got my buck of my life time. I think Col Boy was saying that the two deer that were posted(one being mine) from this unit last year were poor representatives of what's in that unit(I am happy). The one I got was the best I saw.

Anyway shoot me a PM and I will do what I can to help you.

Take Care

I remember reading the links posted above. If that doesn't get you excited, nothing will!

Congrats on an awesome tag! Good luck and post pics.

Thanks to all you guys that replied and gave advice, I'm heading over there this weekend to do a little scouting of the country, and get away from this HEAT!!!!!

Sorry I haven't checked back in in a while, I did go do a little scouting that weekend up gypsum creek, hard scrabble, and powerline road, saw some bucks, nothing real big yet!! got some more trips planned, any suggestions on some areas to look at for the 4th season would be appreciated...Thanks

Any other advice??? Man its been dry here in western Colorado, hopefully we get some weather changes before November...Otherwise it will be Hot and Dry...

I have a second season tag. I'll let you know how I do. If there is no snow in Oct do you guys still reccomend the same areas or do I go high up around fulford?

Any Other Advice???? Thanks to everyone that has reached out!!!Appreciate everyone's Replies and advice.. Getting excited to go on this once in a lifetime Hunt in Colorado!!!

Thanks Again

I'll be helping a friend with a buck tag in the fourth season in 44.It's looking like we have a little weather moving in so hopefully it will get some of the bigger bucks moving. I hope you and I both find a giant! Good luck!
