Hey everyone... We drew cow tags for unit 61 - 3rd season and I will be taking my new son-in-law on his first elk hunt... I have hunted it early season in the last 20 years with missed success... lol.. nice bull 400+ yards... just a bit outside..

IF someone can point me in a few directions to start scounting - keeping 3rd season in mind... I would appreciate it.

There's literally good numbers of Elk from top to bottom of the unit. If there hasn't been a ton of snow, there will be good numbers up near the top, and there are surprising numbers all the way down in the PJ.

Pick an area you can hike into that's a mile or more from main roads, and you'll get into Elk every day.
