Landowner tags: are they valid unit wide?

As above. Have read some are and aren't. Know your allowed access to land the tag was for, but not sure if you can hunt unit wide. Looking at a tag for SW Colorado elk. Thanks

I believe all tags are valid unit wide, but there are two types of tags:

1. Private Only, not valid on public

2. Unit wide which includes both public and private land

For each of those, you are supposed to get access to the private land piece of property that applied for the tag through the draw, but you can hunt elsewhere if you make arrangements with our private landowners.

So if it doesn't say unit wide in description you can only hunt the ranch that got the tag, correct?

LAST EDITED ON Jul-10-18 AT 02:30PM (MST)[p]Landowner vouchers, and the licenses obtained using them, are classified as restricted (private land only) and unrestricted (unit-wide). That is the question you need to ask when you inquire about a voucher.

You are making it harder than it really is. Private land only tags are just that. They may be used on any private in the unit as long as you have landowner permission. Not just the landowner you purchased from.

Vouchers are different. The voucher is good for a tag that is unit wide or private land only. The tag itself is private land only but the voucher reads restricted or unrestricted as noted above
