Myself and a couple buddies drew unit drew a deer tag this year in Colorado, going to familiarize myself with the unit this weekend and glass a little. Just wondered if anyone had any pointers as where to stay or helpful info in general. Thanks and good luck to all who drew tags and get the opportunity to hunt this fall.

My current situation precludes me from caring about your opinion but go ahead and give voice to it anyway...

classic high -to -low unit... all in one not much to see this time of year in the south end but the upper will be pretty

Are you camping or wanting civilized accommodations?

If twas me i would camp up on rabbit ears and work southward but some hardy souls would prefer the hot springs and flashing glitter of tinsel town Steamboat.

Some nice bucks end up in the low end for winter, they have to live somewhere in summer...

There are a few places along the Colorado river where you can stay too. Cabins. State Bridge and then another place I can't remember the name of that's a few miles east of there. Familiarizing yourself with that south end would be a good idea.
I haven't spent much time in the northern part of the unit, so no real help there.

Rancho del rio is the other camping/supply place east /upriver of state bridge lodge. Little more hustle and bustle there with rafters in summer.

Hustle and bustle is a bit of an understatement, as all the rivers dry up every paying client in Co is going to be between pumphouse and rancho... buses, trailers, shuttles...OH MY...

Thank you all for the help, sounds like both are full for the time we will be hunting. They filled up within a few days of the draw being posted. We have looked at staying in Kremmlin. Camping is not out of the option, will explore more. Scouting was more a terrain and access and seemed to find a few promising areas. Thank you for your suggestions and direction on where to be. Was a very diverse unit from top to bottom and I believe will give us a lot of options depending on weather.
Will keep you posted.

Thanks,
