LAST EDITED ON Jan-07-19 AT 06:41PM (MST)[p]Which would be the best, gmu 50,500,and 501, or 62 for mule deer? Have hunted 62 once and have a feel for a few areas, but my buddy knows the Hayman burn area.

If we're unlucky with 9draw, we'll be OTC archery elk hunting in 62 more than likely.

I appreciate any input you guys might have.

Wish I could be of help, but I don't know. But I will say, that if you're here looking for advice, offer to share some advice of your own in exchange. I'm sure there are areas you know well and might help others out with in exchange. That works best.

Founder stated it politely.. basically it's frowned upon to come on the forum shooting from the hip for info without earning your stripes first.

If your buddy speaks highly of that area go there. If he wants try another area then go with that option. Your buddy will have the best info on that unit. If you like exploring new spots talk him into the other. Sorry I can't help more. Any states you know well?

Not really well. Spent 11 days in 62 back 2 years ago. Learned enough to get me started I guess. Lived in Silt for a year and just moved back to Mississippi this spring. I'd have to sit down and break the units apart that I scouted while I was there. Saw some really nice deer in a few areas.

Don't give up just yet. There are a bunch of guys on here with great info. It is just hard for a new guy to get it.

Hunter is right. It's a give and take thing man. Contribute to the forums and share your knowledge and help guys where you can and it will come around. A lot of the knowledge most of us have is from going out and doing ourselves. Pick a hunt/unit and go hunt it. You?ll learn more on the mountain than you will on a forum anyways. Truth be told there is no such thing as a crappy deer tag in Colorado. The tag is ultimately what you make it.
