What to do?

Hey all. I'm on the fence. I want to take my oldest for mule deer next fall. She doesn't have enough points to draw 66 and take the same hunt I did this year. I'm well acquainted with 67,and she might be on the bubble to draw it with 7 NR points. What about 55 or 68? I could run up into the north west corner of the state. Maybe even take a later hunt. Not sure about migration herds . I've been told that can be a concern up along the Wyoming border. Any suggestions? It's time to go hunting. We've grown weary of the point creep game.

Thanks!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-10-19 AT 06:54AM (MST)[p]Unit 66 is truthfully one of the best 2nd season tag options in the state. 67 could be fair, 55 would quite honestly be a tough deal second season. Of what you listed 68 3rd season would be my choice. You typically won't find mature deer cruising around in the sage country in October in the north gunnison basin units. Nor will you find the numbers as there are in 66. I would really recommend a 3rd season hunt, second season hunts are predominately tough hunts that require a person to hunt higher elevations with less window of opportunity because bucks typically aren't as active in that time frame. With 7 points your daughter could pull some 3rd or even 4th season tags in some units considered middle of the road, but still quality hunts by most standards.

That's what I kinda thought. We had a fun hunt in 66. Saw a goodly number of deer. Too bad she only has 7 points.

Most everything in the state will that doesn't also have limited elk licenses...
