I heard activist are trying to get 500 wolves released in Colorado. Any truth to this? I saw firsthand what happened to elk hunting in Wyoming and idaho.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-08-19 AT 08:20PM (MST)[p]Yes they are trying to get a ballot initiative in place to put it to the voters. Science doesn't matter.

Better hang on this Colorado ride is gonna get a bit rough.

saddling up anyway."

You can get 3 elk tags a year in Wyoming. It's terrible! Damn wolves!

You can get three elk tags per person in the areas adjacent to Yellowstone?

Yes.

>No kidding. Which area(s)?

A person could theoretically have three elk tags in the following areas around Yellowstone that have known wolf populations;

53,54,56,58,59,61,67,68,69,73,75,78,80,82,83,84,85,87,90,91,92,93,94,95,96,97

A person could get 2 elk tags in the following areas;
51,62

A person can only get one for the following;
55,60,70,71,81,86

But you could jump a few miles to an adjacent unit and pick up a couple more.

The wolf situation in Wyo is so bad that some guy only paid $24K for a Governors tag the other night that will most likely be used for elk in one of the late migration elk hunts from the park. It's a dire situation.

It's not dire but you would be a fool to say there are more elk now then pre-wolf especially in and around the park. Those late hunts have a fraction of the elk they used to pre-wolf.

Game populations go up and down all the time. Only a fool blames one thing as to why....

Very foolish since a lot of elk have been pushed out into dessert country and agriculture lands by packs of wolves. We have the same problem right where I live in Idaho and this year they are going to open up over the counter cow elk tags because the Idaho game and fish is being sued by several land owners to the tune of 2.5 million dollars
