Post a pic of your favorite buck of all time. Of course it's likely that you didn't shoot it, but that's ok. Surely a man can dream , right?

Anybody know the story on this whopper below? I couldn't find any info about him, but he's about as nice as they come and supposed to be over 40 inches. DANG!

Dennis Winch is the hunter according to what I've turned up on Google search.

Dennis Winch killed that buck in southern Utah, He is one of the few bucks that makes book as both a Non Typical, and a typical. He is over 40 inches wide I believe, and scored in the 280 range I think but not certain. They named him the BigFoot buck.

He is also one of the bucks in the original Magnificent 7 poster that Robert King made back in the 90's.

He is right up there as one of my favorites as well.

I could be mistaken but I think that's a Utah buck.
I believe it was killed on the 50 mile bench.
Is this correct?

LAST EDITED ON Mar-03-19 AT 11:01AM (MST)[p]Dang, if a feller seen one of them live on the hoof, he'd bout have a deer-gasm.

It's cold and snowy here and a good day to dream on.

Jake; what's the story behind that field photo buck you posted and I hope none of these are photo shopped? Well I know the Mag 7 is, but that buck you posted is a toad of toads !

Longshot, its the same buck in every photo including the one you posted, all of them are photo shopped except the field photo that one is legit. He is the far left buck in the Magnificent 7 photo.

While they are photoshopped they didn't add anything to the antlers, the kings recreations was meant to bring the animal back to life so to speak. He didn't alter the antlers any, just put them onto a live deers head.

The buck was killed in Southern Utah by Dennis Winch, and he is 40"s wide, I couldn't find anymore info on him, but I do know he qualified for the book as both a typical and a non typical. and is one of only a handful of bucks to do that. meaning his typical frame is so large that even after you deduct the extra non typical stuff he still netted over 190" I cant remember what his actual score was, and could not find the info online.

Thanks for clarifying. It's looked like possibly a different deer without the stickers... The problem with photo-shopping is you never know what's real these days.

Regardless, that is one BIG SOB any way you look at him.

Read he scored 238 as a typical before deductions. Lotta giant typical frames hidden in the nontypical category

I also love Walter Larsen's 40-incher from 1962. Randy Clark at Traders' Rendezvous in Gunnison has it on the wall. This pic from the great book CO's Biggest Bucks and Bulls.

I've held both the world typical and non typical mule deer in my hands but this is one of my all time favorites..a monster Arizona Strip typical.

Biggest one I've seen on the hoof was during a scouting trip in August in the high country. We came back 2 weeks later for early rifle and ate our tags, timing matters.

Just an FYI Dennis Winch died last week from cancer. That buck was named big foot and truly is one of the biggest deer ever killed.

Dang
I'm sorry to hear about Mr.Winch.
He took a lot of big animals back in the day and guided for many more.
If I remember correctly he wrote a book or two.
And lots of magazine articles.

I wonder where his collection of heads ended up.

That buck was killed by Bob White from San Martin Ca. He was an amazing taxidermist. He mounted heads for my father in the early 60?s and a pronghorn for me in 2011 . Im sorry to say he passed away two years ago.He was such a talent.
