Have seen this buck on a couple occasions on the Hoof , and also have gotten Trail Cam pics . Towards the end of the Archery Hunt I had gotten word this Buck obviously had numerous Archery Hunters on it and it was likely Harvested . Well after setting my Cameras up again and it never being seen since I started asking more questions through other sources . The truth and word is , is the Archery Hunter took a shot at the Buck a shot that shouldn't have been taken , wounding the Buck . The Buck has not been found or seen since . I have also confirmed this info through AZG&F and even if this Buck is found , it's now considered property and an Asset of the AZG&FD , nobody , not even the individual Hunter who shot the Buck gets to keep it to enjoy . What a waste !!!!

What discuss's me is that there is a phenomenal Buck rotting away .... nobody is going to be able to enjoy this Buck now . Nobody is even going to go out there to try to recover it just because the time and money spent is useless to them if they are not able to keep the Dead buck

+1 to both comments. I don't get it. Even if the hunter could get the rack, what twisted mind would get any satisfaction or pride in looking at it on their wall everyday?

Regardless that some bad choices may have been made and a Bad shot took place resulting to the Buck being wounded and dies as a result, the Buck was shot legally and was reported . That said, should be exempt from the regulation due to the circumstances .

Again why would the gut shooter wanna look at it everyday? Was that a proud moment? Put it in the traveling g&f trailer and label it as it is, poor shooting!

shameful, I herd the guy was standing on top of his truck when he shot to clear the brush, no wonder he gut shot him, I also herd he was already found

The unethical fact is the Buck is rotting away and nobody gets to enjoy it . As of yesterday the Buck has yet to be found . I'm working with the AZG&F Commission as we speak and have spoken to the Director and the Unit Managers in seeing on going about getting the Buck recovered for someone to enjoy since the Buck was legally shot . I don't exactly what took place or how the shot was made, too many stories . I know the Hunter and the Guide and I don't see these Guys making a bad choice , as whats been suggested .They are great people and Mistakes happen . We all have had a streak of bad judgment in Our days .

Mike, are you positive all your facts are straight about this unethical situation?

SKGWoodruff, I do not know all the details regarding the situation due to too many stories , as I mentioned above . I do know however , the fact is the shot was misjudged and ended up wounding the Buck . I do know that the Buck is likely dead as it seems that myself and many others have yet to see the Buck since the event. I do know for a fact that it's unethical that the Buck ("if dead") is rotting , going to waste . I do know for a fact that if the Buck is dead and rotting , nobody will be able to enjoy this Buck .

Just curious, seems kind of strange to single out 1 man and his "guide" without knowing the story. I'm sure he's the only 1 this year to place a less than perfect shot.

I can care less about knowing all the details of the whole story or situation . A mistake may have been made ??????? I've spoken with the Guide and spoken with the AZG&F , gotten to know some facts . We all make mistakes . I just hate the fact that even though the Buck was legally shot , the Buck unfortunately has yet to be found , and if it were to be found nobody is able to keep it to enjoy.

Every buck on the Strip is caught on the hundreds of trail cams and we can't find a carcass. I bet the buck has been found by someone from the road department.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-28-14 AT 09:26PM (MST)[p]

a) It can't go to the hunter, he no longer has a valid tag.
b) The dept has rules dealing with deadheads.

Get in line and buy it at the auction just like Chappell had to do.

After reading this entire thread, I am confused. I know nothing about this situation but I do know that every year many deer and elk are wounded and lost by hard working, ethical hunters. It is unfortunate and tragic when it happens but I don't think it is unethical. Mistakes and bad shots happen even when we try our best. If you hunt long enough, you will likely wound and possibly lose an animal at some point in your hunting career. Unless you have solid, first hand evidence that the hunter and guides did something unethical or illegal, then you should probably stop posting. If you do have evidence that they did something improper, then post it up or report it to authorities. Stop guessing and intimating that something that you apparently have no first-hand knowledge about may have happened.

I agree with Hawkeye if you were not there and do not have first hand account of the the hole situation, you don't know what may have happened at the time of the shot and I'm sure the guide and the hunter did all they could to recover this great animal, but as we all know stuff happens and you to no avail cannot find and recover you're animal. so when the truth comes out either way lets stay positive and hope its found and it goes to the hunter(I say)
On another note I would like to have shot this buck also but i didn't have a tag so I'm not going to bash them just cuz they didn't find it. Or RUMORS that he shot it from the top of the truck???

live long hunt hard be safe

Facts are good.
Rumors are just crap that people throw on the wall hoping some of it will stick.
First hand knowledge is better yet, The key is knowing what is what.
Great buck, If he is dead, he sure didn't go to waste he passed along gene's to future sons and daughters and he feed some other wildlife with his passing.

HAWKEYE
i'm sure glade someone has common sense YOU hit it correctly,
mike (dip shi## )foote-azmightymulies made all of this up! i'm the hunter and no guide other then my self was there or helped in any way , the deer was and is alive and healthy as I guided a rifle hunter one him last week , I'm the one that posted about shooting from top of the truck just to make this B.S. post interesting. I tracked the deer to its bed after jumping it at first light shot at 49 yds (UNETHICAL)??? I spent days tracking the deer after the shot, (DIP SHI## ) is the only one that did not know the deer is alive and well. here is the truth and I will not respond to this again!!!

Just thinkin out loud here, maybe instead of playin Internet games, pick up yer bow and practice a little more, so we're not havin this same discussion next fall? Just sayin.

Did you guys kiss and make up? I guess the self proclaimed strip expert is too busy posting about wolves now to respond to this post. Same ole story. What a ******** idiot!
