Hi all. Hoping to gather some pointers on areas to hunt this month. I moved from Utah to the east valley 6 months ago. I'm starting out with just the over-the-counter archery deer tag and am quite oblivious as to where to start. I have spoken with some friends and co-workers briefly, but I'm thinking about heading out to 24B. Any pointers on that area or others? Would love to shoot a decent buck, but initially would just like to fill the freezer before I earn my keep. Thanks for any and all advice.

Deer densities are much lower in the OTC units than what you are accustomed to in UT. Any of the mountainous units have huntable numbers of deer. The low desert flats have some big bucks but the deer densities are so low it takes a special kind of person to spend days without seeing any deer to hunt down there.

24 b is good, you'll find good numbers in 23, 31 and 33 as well. Southern border units are excellent but border issues. 36 b, c 35's are good. just get up on a hill and glass flats and you'll find muleys. Go high and you will find coues. I think areas in previous post where you glass for hours and find few deer are in the 40 units. Units I mentioned you will find plenty of deer.

Good Luck
