First of all I would like to say "THANK YOU" to the 43 sportsmen and women who attended and graduated from our January 3, 2015 Supplemental class in Kingman.

We had folks from as far away as NEW YORK attend the class.

It was a long day day (over 11 hours) but I think most would agree it went well. I hope that the graduates have a good working knowledge of Arizona laws, rules and regulations, and understand the Draw System and Bonus Point program.

For those non-residents who are looking to get a permanent bonus point to help your odds in drawing an Arizona big game tag, the Kingman team will be holding the one-day class on Saturday, April 4, 2015 here in Kingman (100 miles south of Las Vegas in northwest Arizona).

It will be the LAST Supplemental class given in 2015.

Only requirement to get in this class is that you must have taken hunter ed in your home state (or any state) since 1980 and you provide a copy of your card to Dave Williams at AZ G&F. Any one 10 years or older can take this class!

Williams can reached to sign up for the class at 623-236-7434. FAX your cards to him at 623-236-7903.

Class will start at 7 a.m. (Arizona time) and will end about 6 p.m.

We will do a "working lunch" to try and get folks out early.

Take this class and graduate--and almost all do--and you'll walk out with a permanent bonus point that WILL be added to your accumulated points for the 2015 mule deer and sheep draws!

We will talk about how the AZ draw works in detail and explain to you the proposal that NR's will see regarding how bonus points applied starting in 2016.

If you need a good, clean and reasonably priced motel to stay at while attending this class-either Friday or Saturday night, call the Silver Queen Motel at 928-757-4315 and tell them you are there for the AZ Hunter Ed class. You'll get a small discount off the regular room prices if you do. They are right next to the freeway and have a Denny's within 200 yards.

If you have any questions, call me at 928-303-9481 and/or send me an email at [email protected] or call Dave Williams.

Anyone from oregon or western idaho planning on attending that might be interested in splitting gas and cruising down there together?

thank you for posting this information. I have called the AZ Hunter Ed people 4 -5 times and have never been given an answer on when field days are scheduled.

You need to watch the azgfd.gov website in the education tab for a posting of an online field day and then register quickly to get on the roster. We had an OFD scheduled in NW AZ and only had one student sign up.

Our all volunteer Hunter Education Team has been told we are the only team currently putting on the NRS Class.

The Supplemental class is NOT for those who have taken the on-line class and need a field day.

Our class has no field day. It is all day about Arizona rules, regulations, the draw, draw strategies and general information.

Non-residents (or new AZ residents) who have completed a Hunter Ed class in another state and have a card, are the only ones eligible to take this class.

i registered on the website a while back, and spoke with the guy from AZ game and fish.....will we get anything in the mail confirming our spot in the class.....or is it just that email i received after signing up online? thanks for any info

I just received an extra email from Dave with additional details for the class. If you didn't get that yet, it'd probably be worth a call to Dave.

Still time to get into the class.

Got about 15 slots open. Will be the LAST class for us in 2015, so don't miss it!

Register at the G&F website...or talk to Lori or Pam in Hunter Ed.

Don't miss this class for the permanent deer/sheep bonus point!

have Friend coming in from Pennsylvania for Your class on Sat.Doing The Town for a few days before. As We all know,"What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" ... Bruce & SilverGrand

I attended the class today and found it very informative and useful. Don and the crew were top notch and went above and beyond to help us understand AZ law, the AZ draw process and more. I'm glad to have that under my belt now.

Thanks again, Don!

Thanks for the kind words Jon, the instuctor team appreciates it. Don is out hunting turkey so he will not see your post here until he returns. We appreciate you and the rest of the nonresident group that took the time and expense to travel to Kingman to participate in the NRS Class. Yours was an exceptionally well prepared group of students. We hope your experiences in Arizona will be enhanced by the information you received in class and we wish you, and your fellow classmates, the best of luck in the drawings.

Hi Jim...sent you a PM.

Jim, Jay, Don, and John. Thanks for the class. Coleman and I had a great time and made a trip of it. Too bad we didn't draw our elk tags but we'll have better odds next year. The class was very very good for my son. Thank you for that!

Write that down Coleman! Had to be there, LOL!

Hey thanks to all of you that took the time to come over and visit us.

Just for an FYI, I am told there will be some changes coming to this non-resident class.

Jim, Jay and I are going to a meeting on Saturday, April 18 in Flagstaff to learn more, and of course I will post what it is when we get back...

For what it is worth, I am committed to keep on doing this class and to try and educate folks on our rules, regulations, and laws in Arizona.

Game & Fish only updates bonus points twice a year. If you want, you can call the department at 602-942-3000 and ask for the Hunter Ed section. Either Pam or Lori can help you.

Don my Az Hunt Ed card is falling apart, do you know how I can get a new card. This time I'll laminate it. Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Apr-24-15 AT 02:05AM (MST)[p]Don is on a Gould's turkey hunt and likely not able to get on here @ MM for a few days.

We will be adding a shooting/firearms handling/shoot-don't shoot scenario station that each student will have to perform and pass. It shouldn't be a big deal so long as the folks taking the class remember their firearms handling P's 'n Q's (or TAB +1).

Next class in Region III area should be first Saturday in January 2016 in Kingman.

Have any of you had your bonus point for this class show up yet? My daughters has still not shown up? I originally called and was told it would be up by the deadline...then I called today and was told it would be up by the time the draw results were posted. It might be just me, but I sure would like to see that point BEFORE the results were posted. Just want to be sure it is counted in our group average because we go from two points to one point if it is not.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-10-15 AT 10:13PM (MST)[p]I was in this class and I was also told the bonus point would not show up until the draw results were posted. However they did confirm it would be added to my bonus points for the fall draw.

FYI, we send in the information to G&F and they WILL make sure that your bonus point is in place before the fall deer/sheep draw.

That being said it won't show up until AFTER the draw is done, but rest assured that extra point was there in time for the draw.

I know this is a big leap of faith, and if you don't believe you can call the draw section and ask them IF the point was on your record BEFORE the draw!

If you have issues, feel free to call me at 928-303-9481 and can discuss.

Have done this a hundred times though...the point is there...

Don are you involved with the field day this Sunday in Show Low? I'm coming in from Arkansas to attend. I will need my online course completion certificate as well as the waiver form, anything else I should bring?

my point has not shown up yet, but i did receive a hunter ed card in the mail, so i know i am in the system as taking it, if you didn't receive your card you might want to call.

IT WONT SHOW UP ON YOUR RECORD UNTIL AFTER THE DRAW!

They update your records just TWICE a year folks, but the point is there!

I explain this in class over and over, yet I see all of these postings.

It's there...TRUST ME!
