3B November Muzzy

First year in Arizona and I was super excited to learn that I had drawn a Muzzy elk tag! Then I found out I should have paid more attention to the hunts that I applied for! I drew 3B 27 Nov - 3 Dec. The only problem is I will be in WI spending Thanksgiving with my family! Then I found out AZ will not let you return a tag just because I didnt pay attention! lol So it looks like I will have 3 days to hunt elk in AZ this year.

I know nothing about this unit as, again, I just moved to AZ in July. I will spend as much time as possible learning the area between now and my hunt.

My questions for the folks that have hunted this unit. What should I expect? Are there lots of elk ? Are there good bulls? Is there one area I should concentrate on more than others?

Any help is appreciated.

Dont want to rain on your parade brother, but you should have paid attention, I would probably just head to WI for thanksgiving. Tough hunt. The early muzzy hunt is a great hunt in that unit, the late not so much. Your best bet, would be to hire a guide that lives up in the area, but don't expect a big bull. Burnt Timber outfitters, Franco lives in Heber, call him and get an honest opinion, he will be straight up with you, then make your decision.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-12-15 AT 11:16AM (MST)[p]My son and I went up Friday night and spent yesterday hiking and riding around, just trying to get the lay of the land. We found a dozen or so elk and I was surprised at how much sign we found. I know its a LONG time until November but at least I will be hunting.

Tooele, we are still going to Wisconsin, I will be hunting the last four days of this hunt.
