non res archery deer

I am finally in a spot to be able to put in for other states. That being said I was looking for some advice. I cant find draw odds on the website so I was wondering if you guys could shed some light for me.

I was thinking about putting in for 12 and 13a archery hunts. How long are the odds?

Are there any other areas that are comparable that are easy to draw?

And finally how do they do the draw? Do they go through all the choices or do all first choice then the second?

Thanks in advance.

Very long odds if you are a Non Res
First 2 choices in the first pass. No easy comparable areas.

If you don't have max or near max bonus points for deer, you're not in the game in Units 13A and 13B.

Could draw the archery Kaibab tag, but odds are slim for that.

I'd look for one of the OTC tags for desert areas in December and January.

Some BIG bucks out there and the rut is going on.

How many years would one have to wait to draw the kiababs? What desert areas would have the big deer?

I'm not sure on the wait for a non-res for kaibab.

I think you have a chance to draw after you get a few points.

Almost every unit has good muley bucks in them. None are a sure thing to see big bucks everywhere. All of them have pockets of deer. Save your time and don't go to the 15s units, minimal deer for the most part.

Some of the units are not open in December, so checks the regs, they have a very nice archery table that shows when each is open. If you are real brave, you can also come down and hunt August, if you are ok with sunburns, snakes, and heatstroke:) Not very many locals even do the summer hunt in the desert areas, you have to really know your deer in the hunt area, or be a little crazy. Its probably a little of both haha.

I hunted 16a in august one year & let me tell you it was brutal, but it can be done just have lots & lots of water!!

So far we have been able to draw Kaibab archery with 3 nonres BPs. hunter safety, loyalty and 1 point. They cut tags this year so maybe 3 wont do.

Thanks for the info guys. If I could draw the kiababs archery every two or three years I would be good with that. We hunt deer in Nevada during August. It gets pretty brutal but its still fun!

Looking at the draw results report almost everyone with three points or more got drawn for the Kaibab archery, they cut tags by 250 for 2015 though.

We had two points and did not draw...and then did draw the next year with three points.
As already noted, they cut the tags from 800 to 550 on the archery hunt this year. With NO MORE THAN 10% of the tags available to non-residents...there are only 55 tags available this year. I would say that it's going to take closer to 4, or even 5 points, for non-residents to draw that tag now....mainly because it is such a popular second choice for residents.
