The winter course of the Nonresident Supplemental Hunter Education Class is scheduled for Saturday, January 9th, 2016 at the 7 Mile Hill Shooting Range in Golden Valley, AZ. The course will be conducted by Chief Instructor Don Martin and staff in the Mohave Sportsmens Club Clubhouse on the grounds of the range. The all-day class begins at 7:00 AM and concludes by 7:00 PM. The course fee is $8.00 per student with an additional $5.00 if you would like to participate in a group lunch buffet.

The NRSC is a one day course designed to provide the nonresident hunter with an Arizona Hunter Education Certificate and the Arizona Permanent Hunter Education Bonus Point. The course features a detailed discussion of the state's draw system and draw strategies a nonresident might use to secure a tag to hunt big game in Arizona. During the class there will be discussion on many unique issues concerning hunting in Arizona, along with wildlife identification, safety and survival concerns, wildlife management and conservation practices, Arizona game rules and regulations, youth hunt opportunities, and a safe firearms handling demonstration. The course concludes with an exam requiring a score of 80% or better to secure the coveted Arizona Hunter Education Card and the Permanent Bonus Point that accompanies it.

Register for the class at the azgfd.gov web portal under the Hunter Education section and send your proof of prior Hunter Education Graduation (from 1980 to present)from another state's program by email to: [email protected] or fax to 928-788-7371, attention: Jim Rich.
If you need to contact the Hunter Ed Team, please contact Chief Instructors Don Martin @ 928-303-9481 [email protected] or Jim Rich @ 928-444-3397 or 928-788-2777.
(Please note that Don is currently on a hunt and has hunts scheduled throughout the fall and early winter, if you can't reach him leave a message and he will get back to you.)

Participants can fly into Las Vegas and rent a vehicle and make the 90 minute drive to the Golden Valley/Kingman area. If you wish to bring a trailer there is dry camping available at the range or several full service campgrounds in the area. Kingman, Bullhead City, AZ and the gaming town of Laughlin, NV have lots of lodging options available at various price points.

Local hunting is available for archery deer and javelina, waterfowl, quail and predators. The weather is typically mild, albeit a bit windy during January, it's a great time to visit Arizona! We look forward to seeing you in class in January.

I just wanted to send out a big THANK YOU to Don Martin, Jim Rich and the rest of the crew that conducted the Nonresident Supplemental Hunter Education class in AZ on Saturday. There were students from several different states in attendance for the class. The class was very educational and the instructors presented the learning material in an easy to understand fashion. They touched on a few regulations that could easily be overlooked and gave us the information needed to save a person a lot of trouble.

Hopefully the permanent bonus point earned by passing the class (now at 15 points) will help in my goal of drawing an AZ elk tag for 2016. Thanx again guys and gals!

Another shout out to Jim Rich& Don Martins crew for a very informative class, and to the ladies for a very nice lunch........thanks again!!

I repeat the thanks given above. Very good class and the instructors kept it moving.

Now I have one point going into this year's draw. Who knows, I just might get lucky!! Probably not, but I also bought a lottery ticket on the way home...

Thanks Instructors! Great class and another point closer to hunting AZ again. Check out my son Ryan's article about it on liveoutdoors.com
