LAST EDITED ON Nov-29-15 AT 00:01AM (MST)[p]When measuring the horns/antlers of a B&C animal, what type of measuring tape should be used? I recently used a flat tape and came up with smaller measurements then when using a 1/8" flexible cable. Does the circumference of the wire make a difference? Thanks for any info on this.

For tine length and beams, a measuring cable can be used.....or a 1/4" steel tape. I usually use a measuring cable, as curves are much easier to accurately measure. For circumference measurements, a 1/4" tape MUST be used.

Not sure what you mean by "does the circumference of the wire make a difference?"

I appreciate the information. I'm pretty sure that answers my question; as I was using a measuring cable for the circumference measurements and was consistently coming up with larger measurements then with the 1/4" tape.
