Arizona resident question

My friend and I were talking and we were wondering if Arizona is anything like Montana in the fact that if he moves out of Arizona and is no longer considered a resident will he loose his points that he already has accumulated? Thank you

I would think he keeps them but would go in as a non resident.
If I were him I'd buy the lifetime license before he moves and he will be still considered a resident.

He will not lose his points. As stated above, buy the lifetime license. He will have to pay NR fees, but the 10% cap wont apply to him (treated like a resident for the draw).

If my wife would let me, I would move to AZ for a year, just so I could buy the lifetime and be in all draws as a resident forever! :D :D

After my oldest daughter graduated from college she got married and moved to NM. I wish I had bought her a lifetime license before she left but I didn't and now I regret it. I currently have two more kids at UofA and another who will be there in a year. Not wanting to make the same mistake I did with my oldest daughter I have already began to save for lifetime licenses for the rest of them. If they move out of state, I want them to have the opportunity to come back to AZ and hunt with their ol' dad so this will be their graduation gift from me.

Last I checked it was around $650 for a lifetime license.

That's what his going to do. Does anyone know what the process is to take care of it ?

I bought a lifetime lic a few years ago! He needs to go to fish and game and do it there! As far as I know you can't do it online! I am buying my daughter one this year also!

I know a guy from Idaho who was one point off of max for deer. He knew he couldn't draw a Strip deer tag under the old system. He came to my NR Hunter Ed class and we talked afterwards.

He ended up closing his contracting business there and moved to Arizona (Flagstaff). He established his residency there and after the required 6 months there, bought a lifetime Arizona hunting license, then eventually moved back to Idaho.

He is listed as a resident for draw purposes, but pays NR fees for tags.

He doesn't care..

Sure, that was a lot to do go try and "beat the system," but he was obviously a very dedicated mule deer hunter who wanted the opportunity to hunt at least one time on the Strip.

So yes, it does happen.. Just got to be really, really dedicated and either be retired or have a business that you can operate in any state.

When they first started the lifetime license program the non-resident cap did not apply. I remember reading a paragraph clearly stating this with the information regarding the lifetime license a couple years back. A few months ago I was ready to purchase a lifetime license and noticed the verbiage regarding the non-resident cap was gone. I called AZGFD and the guy told me it was no longer part of the deal.

Is this the really the case, or did I speak with someone who may have been misinformed?
