Otc mule deer hunts

Hey guy long time follower first time poster. Just have a few questions about the otc hunts. Not looking for anyone's secret spot or anything but would like to try my luck in December or January. Is there a certain unit the offers a good amount of public land that I will see a decent amount of deer even if I don't harvest anything? Would like to stay on the northern end as I'm from Utah but willing to travel farther. I am willing to pay a trespass fee if needed. I can't seem to find anything on the Internet to help me decide on a unit. Any info is appreciated. Thank you

I'll bite since it doesn't look like you are going to get much help. I would recommend January as there are more units open. Your tag will not be unit specific so I don't think that finding a certain unit is as important as narrowing down the area you want to hunt. If you want to stay northern AZ I would recommend 8,10,6a,6b. Make sure you check the regs to make sure those units are open when you come, whether it is December or January.
As for seeing deer, the bucks will be rutting in January and seeing deer usually is not a problem in most units. The Arizona OTC hunt is one of my favorites every year. If you get an area nailed down and want some more specific advice, shoot me a message.

Not a lot of help. I my self was looking for info. I will be hunting the otc this year as well. I am from Vegas and 18b is pretty close to home for several scouting trips and the hunt itself. I plan on starting in the early hunt and hunting the others of necessary. I have been doing a lot of e scouting and researching online and 18b seems to be the unit for me. 10 and 8 seem great also but I don't want to drive that far. I have the onxhunt maps and have been finding some good areas in the BLM land near bagdad. Just wanted to let you know that it's a pretty good area to check out and not to far of a drive. Hope someone else with more info replies as wrll.

Agree with above post. Wait till Jan. and the big bucks come out chasing ladies in the south 2 thirds of the State. Get high and glass , You will find deer. Good Luck......BULL!
