Arizona Strip scouting trip last weekend

Just an update on a scouting trip that my guide Cody Jalbert and I did last weekend on the Arizona Strip, Unit 13B.

Cody and his dad have drawn archery tags there and I've got a rifle tag for the November hunt, though I'm hoping to sign over my tag to my 14-year-old grandson from Oklahoma.

We saw 30+ bucks on our trip, nothing GIANT, but one that has a lot of character. He is a 7x4, maybe an 8x4 if he keeps growing.

We saw deer, coyotes, turkeys, and a flock of chukars.

Great time, hoping to be going to go back this weekend.

Thinking that it would mean more to me, my family and especially to my grandson Logan to take a good buck and have it on his wall, than for me.

I mean, who wouldn't want to take a big buck on their last AZ Strip tag? Only second deer tag in AZ in the last 32 years!

But as we get older, guess our priorities change and we look at life just a little different.

I know I am.

Something though about the Strip that is magical for sure.

Hoping to go back up this weekend if Cody gets his truck fixed.
