I never thought I would have an opportunity to hunt Arizona but got lucky enough to get invited with an older gentleman on a 3C archery mule deer hunt latter this month. Although I won't be hunting I'm going to do my best to help take a buck.

Right now I'm clueless as elk hunting has been more my ambition. We plan to scout the area out before the hunt but curious, are there any go to tactics that work in 3C in late August? In my mind water holes, spot/stalking, and generally just "getting in front of them," are about the only ideas I have. Am I missing something? Are the bucks going to be up high? Thanks for any and all advice!

How did this hunt go? My 23 year old daughter drew the rifle hunt this year and I'm kind of wondering what to expect. We will begin our scouting after the archery deer and elk seasons are over.

If you would rather email me:

For some reason I can't open my PM's.

Thanks
John
