For those of you who are still wanting to get that very valuable permanent bonus point for ALL big game species here in Arizona, the Kingman Hunter Ed team will be doing our first class of 2017 on January 7, at the Mohave Sportsman Club's 7 Mile Hill Range, which is just 7 miles west of Kingman.

2016 archery Arizona Strip buck!

This is a one-day class and after your final test, you will have earned that point that will be on your record in time for the February elk/antelope draw.

The only requirements is that you must have taken and graduated from a Hunter Education class in another state after 1980 and you must send me a copy of your card in order to be allowed to take the class. You must FAX the hunter ed card to 928-681-2838 or send by email to [email protected]

Young sportsmen or women, ages 14 and older are also eligible to take this class IF they have taken and graduated from a hunter education class in another state.

ALL PROSPECTIVE PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ON THE ARIZONA GAME & FISH WEBSITE! Sign up there only for this January 7 class!

I will also be seeking out a motel that will hopefully give participants a reduced room rate!

If you have any questions about this class, call me at 928-303-9481.

I am out on hunts right now, so it may take a day or two to get back to you; but I will answer your calls.

For you archers that are coming to the class, there will probably be left over archery javelina tags available; and you can buy an over the counter archery deer tag too. Come out and get your permanent bonus point, then spend some time in northwest Arizona hunting free range javelina and mule deer!

Cost of the class is $8.

So I'm a little confused. I tried to look online but it said on AZ website there were no classes scheduled at time? I have a hunter Ed from Alabama. Do I still need the online class there as well or just the field day to earn bonus point? Thanks

I was looking at bonus field day course and it said no classes scheduled? I saw the classroom course but do u get a bonus point for this course as well? Thanks

RE: Arizona Supplemental Hunter Education class for NR's on January 7, 2017 in Kingman

LAST EDITED ON Nov-27-16 AT 11:53PM (MST)[p]Thomas, this is a totally separate type of class than the regular class/field day setup from the Dept. It's a one day deal focusing on AZ rules rather than regular hunter ed, thus the req that you need to have passed hunter ed in another state, and be a non resident.

Another route...

Go to the Hunting page, Hunter Ed section, then click on the "classroom Course Schedule". Click on the Jan7 class and sign up for that class.
You will have the Hunter Ed point for the Elk draw as Don/Rich hand deliver the forms.

only 7 remain

Thanks! So im assuming the only way for NR to get the bonus point is to take the classroom course version? The web site has three diff versions of the hunter Ed course. And the last one clearly states bonus point field day? I guess I'm trying to figure out the one I need to get the bonus point if I'm out there in jan anyway.

You can get the hunter ed point by doing the online class and field day, which is a standard hunter ed setup, or you can do the 1 day NR ONLY "supplemental" class. The benefit of Don's class is, it's only one day, and he hand delivers the form to the dept so you have the point for this upcoming Elk draw. He and Rich will also walk you thru the draw and explain how the Bonus Pass and 1-2 Pass work as well as the new "max 5%", "min 5%" nr cap.

Guys, I encourage you to take the class. It was very informative and Don and Jim do a great job. There was a great cross-section of hunters when I was there and some great discussion was had. I drew a 12B West Late tag this year and shot a good buck.

The class is worth it!

Finally made it back from the "Deer Wars" on the Strip and the late Kaibab. Had a great year! My 14-year-old grandson from Oklahoma got his FIRST ever mule deer buck on the AZ Strip after I signed over long awaited tag over to him; and Rick Thompson, who had 18 bonus points, drew a late Kaibab deer tag and bagged a great buck on the last day at the last minute!

Now back to this Hunter Education class information.

As you can see, just a few seats left for those who want to get that permanent bonus point to help them draw one of Arizona's great big game tags!

Just to reiterate the requirements to take this advanced class.

YOU MUST HAVE TAKEN HUNTER EDUCATION SINCE 1980 AND YOU MUST EITHER EMAIL ([email protected]) or FAX (928-681-2838)A LEGIBLE COPY OF YOUR CARD TO ME and YOU MUST REGISTER ON THE AZGFD WEBSITE!

Class is NOT recommended for those 10-13 years old as it is a fast paced, advanced class! However if you have a son/daughter who has taken Hunter Education in their home state and they have EXPERIENCE, call me (928-303-9481) and let's talk.

We absolutely don't want to deny this opportunity to anyone, but then again, we don't want to see anyone not graduate because they don;t understand the content of the class or can't keep up with the instruction.

Again, call me at 928-303-9481 or text me at that number if you have any questions.
