I've been reading over the rules and pricing on the Boquillas Ranch in unit 10. I have a few questions about the pricing, hoping someone can clarify the exact pricing on the ranch.

1.) Each hunter must purchase a HUNTER RANCH ACCESS PERMIT for $80. It sounds like that hunter can have as many assistants as they want go along and hunt with them for $80 each as well?

2.) Under Ranch Rules it explains that Recreational Users, with the exception of prairie dog hunters and antlerless elk hunters,?must pay the RECREATIONAL IMPACT FEE of $80 for all big game hunts, and obtain a separate RANCH ACCESS PERMIT for each hunt....It appears if you have any big game permit each HUNTER will have to pay the $80 Hunter Access permit PLUS the $80 Recreational Impact fee, so $160 per hunter? Do the hunters ASSISTANTS have to pay the additional $80 for the Recreational Impact fee as well, or if you go as a group does only one person have to pay it?

3.) Did they put a limit to the amount of elk/antelope hunters allowed on the boquillas during the quality hunts only, or did that get taken out with the new rule structure?

4.) All guides and outfitters must register with the Lessee?s Hunt Manager, pay a $500.00 Recreational Impact Fee and provide proof of licensing and insurance when operating on the Big Boquillas Ranch. Each guide and outfitter is allowed two guides per contracted hunter in the field to scout and/or hunt. Each guide and outfitter must purchase their own individual permit. Other guide and outfitter employees, such as a cook, will purchase a Ranch access Permit, but at no time will they be allowed to assist the hunter in scouting or hunting on the ranch. A guide and outfitter must have a hunter contracted for a hunt that lies within the boundaries of the Big Boquillas Ranch in order to enter the ranch to pre scout. In order to pre scout, a $500.00 Guides and Outfitters permit must be purchased.... --Even though it sounds like a guide has limitations to the amount of guides allowed in the field during their hunt, would it be possible for the guides hunter to have additional help by just having them purchase the $80 hunter assistant permit since there is no cap or limit on assist permit sales?

These are good questions. No personal knowledge, but would be good to know with the draw now upon us for 2017...

I was also wondering about if the ranch limits the amount of elk or antelope hunters on the ranch for each hunt? Like did they go with the rule of the first 40 antelope hunters to get a pass can only hunt the ranch? I was just wanting to know this before I put in for antelope.

I hunted antelope last year on the Boquillas and there were not restrictions on the number of hunters. But, with only 100 total tags for unit 10, it's not an issue. I don't know that a hunter can bring all the help he wants, regardless of the $80 cost. I think there was a limit but I could be wrong. Each person did need an $80 permit, not $160 per person.

The system they have in place seemed to work well. I would definitely buy a Boquillas permit if I drew, that's for sure.

here are a couple other details I think also apply to the Big Bo. I do not think you are allowed to have ATVs. I also do not think you are allowed to sit water. I do not think you are allowed to use trail cameras. Could be wrong.
